You don’t have to buy Snow White’s dwarves to decorate your garden. It’s much more original to transform old tires into tables and swings, corks into garden labels, or plastic fruit and vegetable crates into armchairs.
Have you changed the tires on your car because they were worn out and you don’t know what to do with them? Or do you want to decorate your garden, but you’d rather not fill it with dwarves? You can combine the two by recycling household items and transforming them into decorations for your private green space. This way, your driveway will be the most original in the neighborhood, and you won’t have spent anything to beautify it.
Creative Recycling for Garden Decor
Creative Tire Recycling
Car tires are definitely the most suitable item for recycling. First, clean them thoroughly, then spray paint them as you like. After letting them dry, they’ll be ready for countless uses. You can stack them one on top of the other and place a round pallet on top: there you have your new coffee table. If you also have some trees, you can tie a wheel around a branch with a rope and make a swing for your kids (and for you, too, actually). And if you have a tool shed, a wall, or an unsightly entryway you want to spruce up, hang them vertically and use them as flowerpot supports.
Creatively Recycle Corks
You didn’t even realize how many corks you throw in the trash every year. A dinner with friends, a family lunch, or a romantic evening have led to empty wine bottles piling up in the glass bin and wasting the corks. Yet, they’re useful for more than just preserving wine. Use them as labels to indicate what you’re growing in pots or in your garden: write the name of the plant with a permanent marker, then fit the cork onto a skewer and plant it in the ground. But they can also be an original decoration for your gazebo. Line them up and tie them together with string, then add a colorful fabric ribbon and you’re done. You can hang them wherever you like.
